For lovers of nature, fresh air, and adventure. For travelers craving a peaceful escape from the heat and chaos of the medina. For anyone who wants to see Morocco beyond the tourist trail — this is your day.

Just 45 minutes from Marrakech, the Ourika Valley opens up into a world that feels untouched. Terraced Berber villages clinging to emerald hillsides. Panoramic views that stretch as far as the eye can see. Cool mountain air and breathtaking sceneries that remind you why you travel in the first place.

And because this trip is entirely private, just your group, your own vehicle, your own pace, you'll actually get to feel it. No crowds. No rushing. No compromise.

You'll meet some of the most kind and easy-to-approach people ever. Step inside a real Berber home and share a traditional lunch with locals. Visit the Setti Fatma waterfalls with a local expert guide who knows every story behind the landscape. Meet the Berber women behind Morocco's famous organic Argan oil, and learn their centuries-old secrets, straight from the source. Get your hands into clay in a pottery workshop, learning a craft passed down through generations. And take the kind of photos that make people ask "where on earth is that?"

This is stress-free travel to the 'real' Morocco — and we can't wait to show it to you.

Itinerary

From the moment your driver picks you up to the last curve of the mountain road back to Marrakech, every detail of this day has been carefully crafted. Refined over the years through the feedback of thousands of guests, this is the Atlas Mountains day trip that goes beyond the postcard — and deep into the real Morocco.

Your Private Day in the Atlas Mountains

  • The Scenic Drive to Ourika Valley
Your private driver picks you up directly from your hotel or riad and heads south out of Marrakech. The moment the city fades behind you, the landscape opens up into something extraordinary. The road to Ourika winds through the foothills of the High Atlas, past majestic mountain peaks and a succession of authentic Berber valleys — Tafza, Aghbalou, Oulmes — each one more breathtaking than the last. This isn't just a transfer. It's where the day begins.
  • Setti Fatma & the Waterfalls
You'll arrive in Setti Fatma — a colorfully painted Berber village nestled in a dramatic canyon beneath the High Atlas peaks, famous for its series of seven waterfalls. We time your arrival deliberately to beat the crowds, so you get to enjoy the peace, the panoramic views, and the beauty of this place the way it deserves to be experienced.
Your certified local Berber guide will take you on a hike through the waterfalls and along the Ourika river. Don't forget to wear comfortable shoes!.
  • Secrets of Argan Oil
Next, a stop at an organic Argan oil cooperative, where you'll meet the Berber women who have been producing Morocco's liquid gold for centuries. You'll discover the full story behind this precious natural gift: its health benefits, its production process, and the community behind it. Fascinating, educational, and completely authentic.
  • Lunch in a Berber Home
This is one of the moments most travelers talk about long after they return home. You'll sit down for lunch with a genuine local Berber family — in their home, at their table. On the menu: a fresh Moroccan salad, a scrumptious slowly-cooked Berber tajine with vegetables and meat, fresh seasonal fruits, and Moroccan mint tea with homemade local pastries. Wholesome, hearty, and made with love.
Prefer to eat by the river? We can arrange lunch at a trusted riverside restaurant instead — just let us know.
  • Pottery Workshop
On the way back to Marrakech, you'll stop at a traditional handicraft pottery workshop. Get your hands into the clay and try your hand at one of the oldest Berber crafts — a short, hands-on initiation with a local artisan that's as fun as it is memorable. Particularly loved by younger travelers and families.
  • Back to Marrakech, As the Atlas peaks disappear in the rearview mirror, your driver takes you back to your hotel or riad. The medina will feel a little different now — you've seen what lies beyond it.

This itinerary is our tried-and-tested route, but your day is exactly that — yours. Want to linger longer at the waterfalls? Sure. Prefer to skip a step? No problem. Want to add something along the way? Just let us know. We'll make it work, at your pace and on your terms.

If you're an art lover, a garden enthusiast, or simply curious, ask your driver to include a stop at Anima Garden on your way back to Marrakech — an immersive garden created by artist André Heller, tucked away in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. Just let us know when booking.

This isn't just a day trip. It's the day your Marrakech trip becomes a Morocco story. With your private driver taking care of everything from pickup to drop-off, the only thing you have to do is say yes — the Atlas Mountains will do the rest.

"This trip was the highlight of our holiday. From the first connection with the team, through to the final goodbye with our driver/guide- it was simply brilliant.

We are a family of 6- Mum, Dad, 3 children (ages 10-15) and Grandma.  We wanted an adventure that worked for us all- that allowed everyone to experience a piece of real Morocco- whilst feeling that we had seen some of the must have sites and experiences.

We were looked after so well. The local guides and stop off points were great and lunch in the Berber house was wonderful. The memories gained today will stay with us all for a very long time. A private trip, with a company that really cares, is a must do experience. Can’t recommend highly enough"

"We had a great day out on this trip, our driver / guide, Abdennour who was fantastic, and flexible in how the day ran. He was knowledgable about the area, customs and cultures and was happy to share the knowledge with us. This is a fairly busy tourist route but we definitely felt we got a personalised service away from what the majority of people on other tours seemed to be experiencing. When chatting to Abdennour we told him about how we liked gardens, he immediately suggested a garden that was on route that we could visit as part of the day if we wished. It was actually a garden I had wanted to visit but dismissed as being too far out from Marrakesh, so to get an opportunity to visit as part of this day out was brilliant. show more

"We had such an amazing day with One Life Trips on our private tour to the Atlas Mountains! Everything ran so smoothly from start to finish. From the pickup and drop-off from our villa were super easy, and the car was really comfortable and air-conditioned.

Our driver, Otman, was awesome, super friendly, easy to talk to, and full of great info about the area and local culture. Once we got to the Atlas Mountains, a local guide took us on a beautiful walk through the mountains up to the waterfalls, which was honestly one of the highlights of our trip. Afterwards, we had a delicious traditional meal in a Berber home with the most incredible views. For our group of 10 friends this entire day was such a special experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking your Atlas Mountains Private Day Trip from Marrakech

What if we want to start earlier or later than 9 AM?

No problem at all. We're flexible. If you'd like an earlier start to beat the crowds, or a later departure to suit your morning, just let us know when booking and we'll arrange it. The 9 AM departure is our recommended time, it gets you to Setti Fatma before the crowds arrive, but your schedule comes first.

Can we customize the itinerary, add or skip certain stops?

Absolutely! This itinerary is our tried-and-tested route, but we're always happy to adapt the day to you and your preferences. If there's a particular stop you'd love to add, or one you're less interested in and want to skip, just let us know and we'll make it work.

Is lunch included, and can you accommodate dietary requirements?

Yes, lunch is included. You'll be served a traditional Moroccan meal in a Berber home — a fresh salad, a slowly-cooked vegetable and meat tajine, seasonal fruits, and mint tea.

If you have dietary requirements — vegetarian, vegan, allergies, or anything else — just let us know in advance and we'll make sure everything is taken care of.

Prefer to eat by the river instead? We can arrange lunch at a trusted riverside restaurant. Just mention it when booking.

We only have half a day — can we still experience the Atlas Mountains?

We'd recommend the full day to really live an immersive experience. That said, if you're short on time, we can definitely arrange a half-day experience for you so you can still see what the Atlas Mountains area look and feel like. Get in touch via WhatsApp and we'll put together a customized itinerary that works around your schedule.

Can I visit Anima Garden as part of this trip?

Yes, absolutely. Anima Garden is a wonderful add-on for art lovers, garden enthusiasts, or anyone who's simply curious — it's an immersive garden created by artist André Heller, tucked away in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains, right on the way back to Marrakech. Just let us know when booking and we'll include it in your day. You'll be able to buy tickets at the entrance. Learn more at: https://www.anima-garden.com/visit/

Is this trip suitable for all ages — families with kids, elderly guests, and seniors?

Yes — this is one of the things we're most proud of. The day is designed to be enjoyable for everyone, whatever your age or fitness level. The pace is entirely yours, the vehicle is comfortable and air-conditioned, and the waterfall hike is gentle enough for most guests. If you have specific mobility concerns or anything you'd like us to keep in mind, just mention it when booking and we'll make sure the day works perfectly for your group.

I'm a solo traveler — can I book a private tour just for myself?

Absolutely. This trip is 100% private regardless of group size — whether you're travelling solo, as a couple, or as a larger group. If you're booking solo, the experience is entirely yours: your own driver, your own guide at the waterfalls, your own pace.

Can I book this trip for a large group?

Absolutely — we love hosting large groups. We've welcomed groups of 10, 15, and beyond, and the experience is just as personal and well-organised. For larger groups we'll arrange the right number of vehicles and guides to make sure everyone is comfortable. Get in touch via WhatsApp with your group size and travel dates and we'll put together the best arrangement for you.

We're staying in a riad deep inside the Medina — can you still reach us?

Yes. Your driver will pick you up directly in front of your riad. If your riad is not accessible by car, he will contact you before arrival to coordinate the most convenient pickup point nearby — usually just a short walk from your door.

We're on checkout day — can we bring our luggage in the car during the trip?

Of course. Just let us know in advance so we can make sure there's enough space in the vehicle, especially for larger groups or bulkier luggage. It's one less thing to worry about on your last day.

We regularly receive this request from guests who want to experience different hotels or areas during their stay, and we're always happy to accommodate it. Your luggage travels safely in the vehicle with your private driver while you explore the Atlas Mountains stress-free.

What should I wear and bring?

Comfort is key. We recommend wearing light, breathable clothing and comfortable walking shoes — especially for the waterfall hike, where the terrain can be rocky. In summer, a hat and sunscreen are a must. In winter and spring, the Atlas Mountains can be significantly cooler than Marrakech, so bring an extra layer. A small backpack, water bottle, and your camera are all you'll need. We take care of everything else.

What happens if the weather is bad?

The Atlas Mountains are beautiful in all conditions — even on overcast days, the landscapes are dramatic and the experience is just as rewarding. In the rare case of severe weather that would genuinely affect your safety or enjoyment, we'll contact you in advance to discuss rescheduling. We always put your experience first.

Is this trip enjoyable in summer? I'm a little concerned about the heat.

Great news — the Ourika Valley and Atlas Mountains sit over 1,000 metres higher than Marrakech, making them naturally cooler and one of the best escapes during the summer months. The mountain air, the river, and the shade of the valley make a real difference. That said, we still recommend bringing a hat, sunscreen, and a water bottle, and wearing light breathable clothing. Many of our guests specifically choose this trip in summer for exactly that reason — to breathe and cool down.

What is the cancellation and rescheduling policy?

We offer a full refund for cancellations made at least 24 hours before the trip's start time. If your plans change, simply reach out via WhatsApp and we'll reschedule you to another date at no extra cost.

For cancellations made within 24 hours of the start time, we are unable to offer a refund. However, we'll do our best to find a suitable alternative date for you.
