Itinerary

From the elegant boulevards of the new city to the thousand-year-old labyrinth of the ancient medina, this Marrakech private city tour is a masterfully curated journey through all that makes Marrakech one of the world's most captivating destinations.
Refined over the years through the expertise of our guides and the feedback of thousands of guests, this tour is designed to give you a meaningful experience of Marrakech and show you the very best the city has to offer in just half a day.

Your Private Journey Through Marrakech

  • Gueliz & Hivernage – Your adventure begins in Marrakech's elegant new city, conceived and built by the French in the early 20th century. Here, grand tree-lined avenues — including the city's own "Champs-Élysées" — are flanked by chic cafés and contemporary boutiques. It's the perfect introduction: a reminder that Marrakech is a city of many layers, ancient and modern all at once.
  • Bab Agnaou & the Kasbah – Step through one of Marrakech's most magnificent ancient gateways and enter the imperial heart of the old city. The intricately carved Bab Agnaou, a relic of the Almohad Dynasty, marks the threshold between two worlds. Your guide will set the scene here, bringing 1,000 years of history vividly to life.
  • The Koutoubia Mosque – the city's most iconic symbol and its tallest structure. Built in the 12th century under the Almohad Dynasty, its soaring minaret has guided travelers home for nearly a millennium. Even today, every other building in Marrakech bows below it by law. A true anchor of the city, in every sense.
  • Bahia Palace – Built to be the greatest palace of its age, Bahia is a breathtaking testament to Moroccan artistry. Wander through its lavish courtyards and grand reception halls, where hand-painted cedarwood ceilings, intricate zellij tilework, and lush gardens reveal a world of extraordinary opulence. Prepare to be completely spellbound.
  • The Mellah & the Farnatchi (hidden local gem) – Wander through the historic Jewish Quarter, a fascinating chapter in Marrakech's story and a testament to the multicultural roots that shaped the city's unique identity. Nearby, discover the Farnatchi — a centuries-old furnace room that still heats the neighborhood's traditional hammam steam baths, and where locals bring their famous slow-cooked Tanjia to be braised in the wood-fired embers. It's the kind of living history you won't find in any guidebook.
  • Medersa Ben Youssef – Once the largest theological college in North Africa, Medersa Ben Youssef is an architectural masterpiece that will leave you breathless. Every surface tells a story — from the impossibly intricate plasterwork and hand-carved cedarwood to the shimmering mosaic of geometric tiles. Standing in its central courtyard, surrounded by centuries of scholarship and beauty, is one of those moments that stays with you long after you leave.
  • Jemaa el-Fna & the Ancient Souks, Your tour culminates in the beating heart of Marrakech. The legendary Jemaa el-Fna square buzzes with storytellers, musicians, and street vendors, before giving way to the sprawling souk district — the largest in Morocco, where merchants have traded without pause for over 1,000 years. Lose yourself among stalls piled high with hand-knotted rugs, pyramids of saffron and cumin, gleaming brass lanterns, handmade Berber boucherouite, and mysterious apothecary potions. With your expert guide by your side, you'll know exactly where to look, what to ask, and where the real treasures are hidden.

This itinerary is our tried-and-tested route, but we're always happy to tailor it to you. If there's a landmark you'd love to add, or one you've already visited and want to skip, just let us know and we'll make it work. For Jardin Majorelle, please refer to the dedicated question in the FAQ further below.

Whether you're visiting Marrakech for the first time or returning to rediscover it, this is one of the tours our guests recommend most, and it's easy to understand why. Every stop has been chosen with care. Every story your guide shares will stay with you. And around every corner, there's something that makes you glad you came. With your private guide and chauffeur by your side from start to finish, all you have to do is show up with an open mind and let Marrakech do the rest.

"Great overview of Marrakech highlights!

This tour was one of the highlights of our week in Marrakech! Our guide and our driver were both so welcoming and friendly, and clearly committed to us having a great experience. Our guide was knowledgeable and engaging and tailored our conversations to meet our interests, rather than just sharing some canned script. He also showed us so many of the city’s highlights that we felt well prepared to explore on our own over the following days. The tour was just the right balance of showing us the best things while also tailoring the experience to match our interests and our pace. Highly recommended!"

"We got the right tour guide on the right day. He was extremely knowledgeable and friendly, picked us up at our Riad and was early, which is a good thing.

The tour was a combination of walking + brief van rides to get us to places in different parts of the city. We saw the Jewish Quarter, Bahia Palace, the outside of the main mosque, various souks, and a madrassa (Ben Yousef). He knew all about the history of what we were seeing. I learned many new things about Islam, the history of Morocco, and about mosaic tiles.

Private tours are the way to go. I would not have been able to ask as many questions if there were 30 of us (we were a party of 6).

"An extremely valuable tour with an excellent guide.

Our guide, Youssef, could not have been better. His pace and generous delivery of information and his own personal stories was extremely enlightening to the Moroccan culture. He treated us as if we were his most precious friends. It is a tour and memory I will not soon forget. He offered to be a resource for information during our entire stay in Marrakech."

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking your Highlights of Marrakech: Private Half-Day City Tour

What if we want to start earlier or later than our scheduled departure time?

We offer three departure times: 9:00 AM, 10:00 AM, and 2:00 PM. To request a different start time, please book the closest option and mention your preferred time in the special requests field during checkout, or reach out after booking and we'll do our best to accommodate your schedule. We're flexible and can usually adjust by up to an hour earlier or later.

Can we customize the itinerary, add stops, or skip certain landmarks?

Absolutely! This itinerary is our tried-and-tested route, but we're always happy to tailor it to you. If there's a landmark you'd love to add, or one you've already visited and want to skip, just let us know and we'll make it work.

That said, we want your experience to feel immersive, not rushed — so we can comfortably swap in one or two stops without compromising the pace. If you have a longer wishlist, a customized full-day tour might be a better fit. Reach out and we'll put something together just for you.

Can I include Jardin Majorelle in my tour? Do you recommend it, and for what timeslot should I book tickets?

Jardin Majorelle (alone or with the Berber Museum) can be included as a stop on your private city tour. You'll just need to purchase your tickets in advance, and we'll take care of the rest — driving you there and fitting it seamlessly into the itinerary.

That said, here's our honest take: if you have more time in Marrakech, we'd recommend visiting Jardin Majorelle on your own — you'll be able to linger as long as you like, especially if you also want to visit the YSL Museum. Adding it to the city tour is the smart option when you're short on time and want to fit everything into one efficient morning or afternoon.

For ticket timing, these combinations work best:

  • 9:00 AM pickup: book Jardin Majorelle for 9:30 AM (or 12:30 PM to end the tour there)
  • 10:00 AM pickup: book for 10:30 AM (or 1:30 PM to finish there)
  • 2:00 PM pickup: book for 2:30 PM (or 5:30 PM to finish there)

Is the tour suitable for families with kids and elderly guests?

Absolutely. This is one of our most family-friendly experiences, and we tailor the pace to your group. Our guides are patient, engaging, and great with kids of all ages. For elderly guests or those with mobility considerations, we adjust the route and walking distance accordingly. Just let us know your group's needs when booking and we'll make sure everyone is comfortable throughout.

I'm a solo traveler — can I book a private tour just for myself?

Absolutely — solo travelers are very welcome. The tour is 100% private regardless of group size, so you'll have your guide and driver entirely to yourself. Many solo travelers tell us it's one of the best decisions they made in Marrakech.

Can I book this tour for a large group?

Yes — we accommodate large groups and can arrange multiple vehicles and guides if needed. Reach out to us directly before booking and we'll put together the best arrangement for your group.

We're staying outside the Medina — can you pick us up from our hotel?

Yes — we offer complimentary pickup from any hotel, riad, or accommodation in Marrakech and surrounding areas within a 20 km radius. Your private driver will come directly to your door.

We're staying in a riad deep inside the Medina — can you still reach us?

Yes — for guests staying inside the Medina, your guide will come find you directly at your riad and walk with you from there. Just share your address when booking and we'll handle the rest.

Can you pick us up directly from the airport?

Yes — we offer airport pickup as an add-on. Simply mention it in the special requests field during checkout or reach out after booking and we'll arrange everything for you. We'll just need your flight number to monitor for any arrival delays.

Can you drop us off somewhere different from our pickup point?

Yes — just let us know your preferred drop-off point and we'll make it happen. Whether it's a restaurant, the airport, or anywhere else in Marrakech, your driver will get you there.

We're on checkout day — can we bring our luggage in the car during the tour?

Absolutely — we regularly have this request from guests who want to experience different hotels during their stay, and we're always happy to accommodate it. Your luggage travels safely in the vehicle with your private driver while you explore the city stress-free. That's actually a smart option for a 10:00 AM tour that ends at 2:00 PM — right in time for your new hotel's check-in.

What should I wear and bring?

Comfortable clothes and walking shoes are all you really need — we'll take care of everything else. In summer, sunscreen and a hat go a long way in the Marrakech sun. During winter or rainy days, a light jacket and a small umbrella will keep you comfortable. And don't forget your camera or phone — from the ornate courtyards of Bahia Palace to the vibrant chaos of the souks, you'll want to capture every moment.

How much do entrance fees cost, and should we bring cash?

Entrance fees are paid directly on-site and are not included in the tour price. Here's a rough guide:

  • Bahia Palace: 100 MAD per adult / 30 MAD per child (ages 7–13)
  • Medersa Ben Youssef: 50 MAD per adult / 10 MAD per child (under 12)

Cash in Moroccan dirhams is recommended. If you don't have any on you, no worries — your guide can walk you to a nearby ATM.

What is the cancellation and rescheduling policy?

We offer a full refund for cancellations made at least 24 hours before the tour's start time. You can also reschedule freely at no extra cost — just let us know in advance.

For cancellations made within 24 hours of the start time, we are unable to offer a refund. However, we'll do our best to find a suitable alternative date for you.
