Itinerary

Over the years, we've crafted and fine-tuned two itineraries through the Medina — each offering a rich and authentic journey through Marrakech's culinary soul, where every stop is handpicked and every bite is intentional.
Based on your guide's expertise and the rhythm of the day and season, your evening will follow either of these routes. Both are equally delicious, deeply local, and crafted with love and utmost care to give you a memorable food adventure.

Route A - The Medina Classic

  • Moroccan coconut macaroons – a kids' favorite sweet treat
  • Kaab Ghzal (Gazelle ankles) – a yummy local pastry filled with almond paste aromatized with orange blossom water
  • Traditional Harira soup, served with dates & Chebakia – just like how locals break
    their fasting during Ramadan
  • Babbouche (Moroccan snails) – slowly cooked in an aromatic herbal broth
  • Authentic mint tea & Msemmen – pan-fried pancakes drizzled with honey and cheese
  • Fakya – a festive mix of dried fruits and nuts, commonly shared among families & friends during celebrations
  • Signature olives of Morocco, from the greens with their creamy smooth texture to
the reds tossed in parsley and cilantro

Dinner is served at a cozy local restaurant: fresh Moroccan salad + a hearty Tajine.
For dessert, we'll offer you Raïb – a homemade yogurt that's simply divine.

Route B - The Local's Table

  • Msemen Amer – Moroccan pancakes stuffed with savory fillings, popular during teatime in Morocco
  • Harira & Chebakia – the classic soup-and-sweet combo
  • Makkla bel Kefta – the Moroccan twist on the Shakshouka
  • Sfenj – traditional Moroccan donuts, golden and crispy on the outside, airy and chewy inside
  • Lhindiya – refreshing cactus fruits, rich in antioxidants, great for cooling down in hot weather
  • Rass Mbekher – delicately steamed sheep's head seasoned with cumin | Sometimes replaced by local-style Chawarma (Succulent chicken or crispy falafel)
  • Panaché – a colorful smoothie made from fresh seasonal fruits
  • Khoudenjal – a hot Moroccan herbal infusion made from galangal root, good for digestion

Dinner is an open-air Chwa experience – authentic Moroccan barbecue with juicy grilled meats (beef, turkey, and liver).

Whichever path your evening takes, you’ll enjoy a flavorful and deeply local experience. Your belly will be filled with joy, your senses will be delighted, and you’ll have plenty of stories to share when you get home. Depending on the pace of your tour, we may stop at a traditional herbalist’s shop for a short break — a chance to learn about Moroccan spices, sip on mint tea, and use a clean restroom if needed. Come hungry. Leave happy. Bon appétit!

"An authentic and pleasantly unexpected food experience... We had no issues with the food, either during or after, which made the experience even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this to anyone seeking something truly authentic but who may have concerns about food safety. It was safe, clean, and genuinely immersive."

"We had the absolute pleasure of doing a Marrakech food tour with Mehdi, and it was hands-down one of the highlights of our trip to Marrakech. From the moment we met him, we felt like we were exploring the city with a friend who genuinely loves sharing its culture, history, and food. He didn't just take us to great places, he explained the stories behind the dishes, the traditions, and how to spot authentic local specialties. Every bite felt thoughtfully chosen, and we would never have found many of these spots on our own. If you’re visiting Marrakech, I can’t recommend this experience enough. show more

"I would give this 6 out of 5 stars if I could. Amazing experience. Mohamed was so kind and informative, we learned a lot about Berber culture as well as the foods we were trying. After a long day in Marrakech we were worried about walking more but the walking wasn't excessive or demanding, it was very leisurely. We also tried a wide variety of foods that it didn't occur to us to try on our own earlier in the week while we were sightseeing in the area. Some people politely declined to try certain things and there was no pressure. I did try everything and was pleasantly surprised that I liked most of the items."

"Best thing we have done in Marrakech!

Professionalism from start to finish!! Well-designed tour with several stops, a delicious selection of many different kinds of Moroccan food that is atypical and they were able to accommodate my vegetarian diet. The best was our guide, who gave us so much history along the way and made it fun. Small group and such a perfect selection of food, places to stop, and just the right length of time. LOVED it!! Many thanks!"

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking your Authentic Marrakech Food Tour

How long is the tour exactly, and what time does it end?

The tour lasts approximately 2h30 to 3 hours, depending on the group's pace. We typically wrap up around 9:00 PM (9:30 PM in summer, when we start at 6:30 PM to enjoy more comfortable temperatures).

We recommend arriving at the meeting point 5 minutes before the start time. Your guide will be there at 6:00 PM (6:30 PM in summer) to welcome the group, check everyone in, and get the evening started on time.

Can I join the tour if I'm running late?

We understand that things don't always go as planned! If you're running late, please contact us on WhatsApp as soon as possible. We'll do our best to accommodate you, but please note that our guide cannot wait indefinitely, as it wouldn't be fair or respectful to the rest of the group.

If you're more than 15 minutes late, we may not be able to hold your spot. That said, we'll do our best to coordinate with your guide so you can join mid-tour. If that's possible, he'll wait for a moment when the group is eating, excuse himself, and come meet you at an agreed nearby point. Please be patient if that's the case.

Honestly, the best solution is to reschedule to another date — we'd be happy to arrange that for you. We'd rather you enjoy the full experience from start to finish.

What should I wear and bring?

Marrakech evenings can be warm but occasionally breezy — we recommend comfortable walking shoes and a light layer or jacket for later in the evening. Feel free to bring hand sanitizer if it makes you more comfortable. And don't forget your camera or phone: the Medina at night is pure magic, and you'll want to capture every moment of the evening. Most importantly: come hungry.

Is the tour suitable for families with kids and elderly guests?

Absolutely — this tour is designed for everyone. Kids love the sweet treats and the energy of the Medina at night, and our guides are experienced at keeping the pace comfortable for all ages. The route involves moderate walking on uneven surfaces typical of the Medina, so we recommend comfortable flat shoes for elderly guests. If you have specific mobility concerns, feel free to contact us in advance and we'll do our best to accommodate you.

I'm pregnant — can I join the tour?

Of course! Many pregnant women have joined our tour and had a wonderful time. The walking pace is relaxed, and we can always adjust stops if needed.

Good news on the food front: items typically restricted during pregnancy — such as raw or undercooked foods, high-mercury fish, unpasteurized products, and processed meats — are not part of our menu anyway, so you can eat with peace of mind.

We do recommend consulting your doctor beforehand, and please let us know when booking so your guide can keep an eye out for you throughout the evening.

Do you offer private food tours?

Yes — we offer private food tours for couples, families, and groups looking for a more exclusive experience. Same authentic stops, same handpicked tastings, but entirely at your own pace and with dedicated personal attention from your guide. Contact us to check availability and pricing.

We're staying far from the medina — do you offer transportation?

Hotel pickup isn't included in the tour, but we do offer private round-trip transportation as an add-on for guests staying outside the Medina area. Simply let us know your location and your interest in a private transfer when booking, and we'll arrange everything for you with pleasure. Contact us for pricing and availability.

Do you offer a morning or lunchtime version of this tour?

Currently, we only run our food tour in the evening — and there's a good reason for it. The Medina truly comes alive at golden hour, the food stalls are at their most vibrant, and the atmosphere is simply unmatched.

That said, we occasionally arrange customized private daytime experiences for guests who request it — and they always enjoy it very much. As with all our private tours, availability is limited, so feel free to contact us in advance and we'll do our best to arrange that for you.

I'm a big foodie — can I experience both itineraries on two separate dates?

Absolutely — and we love that enthusiasm! Both routes are distinct enough that doing them on two different evenings is a genuinely rewarding experience. A good number of food lovers have done exactly this. Just let us know in advance and we'll offer you a special bundle discount. Once booked on two separate dates, we'll make sure you experience each route in turn.

What about dietary requirements — gluten-free, vegan, allergies?

Most diets are warmly accommodated. Vegetarian, pescatarian, lactose-free, and halal guests are all well catered for — just let us know when booking (you can add a note at checkout or contact us directly).

For gluten-free and vegan guests, let's be honest: Moroccan cuisine is naturally rich in gluten and animal products. Many gluten-free and vegan guests have joined our tour and loved it, but we can't guarantee a full substitute at every single stop. Guests who come knowing this in advance always end up having a great time — the experience goes far beyond what's on the plate.

For guests with severe or life-threatening allergies, this tour may not be the right fit. Your safety always comes first, and we'd rather be honest with you upfront. Feel free to chat with us on WhatsApp before booking if you have any concerns.

What happens if it rains?

The tour goes on! If the weather is rainy, your guide will adapt the route to favour more covered areas while keeping all the best stops. We recommend bringing an umbrella just in case, but rest assured your guide has full experience handling these cases and will do everything to take care of you and make your evening enjoyable.
In the rare case of truly exceptional weather conditions, we would contact you several hours in advance to discuss the best option for you: rescheduling or a full refund.

What is the cancellation and rescheduling policy?

We offer a full refund for cancellations made at least 24 hours before the tour's start time. You can also reschedule freely at no extra cost — just let us know in advance.

For cancellations made within 24 hours of the start time, we are unable to offer a refund. However, we'll do our best to find a suitable alternative date for you.

Is it safe to walk the medina at night?

Absolutely. The medina is lively and well-frequented at night — it's where locals and visitors alike come out to eat, shop, and socialize. You'll never be walking alone; your guide knows every corner of the Medina and will keep the group together throughout the evening. Tens of thousands of guests have walked these streets with us without incident. That said, as with any busy market area anywhere in the world, we recommend keeping an eye on your belongings and staying with the group.

Essential For Foodie Travellers!

This food tour was hugely enjoyable and a great way to meet new friends and enjoy authentic food. We learnt a lot of culture and history from Mohammed and we're very grateful for his knowledge and experience. Delicious street food although fairly extensive, there was plenty of time to eat and relax so don't worry about eating too much! Oh and a beautiful meal at the end to finish a great evening. Would definitely do this again, thank you!😊
